My name is Hillary Gandy and I’m writing to recommend Cyndi Sliger for the NICU Doula Academy program. We’ve known Cyndi for a year now. She came to our family when our twins were around 2 weeks old to provide overnight care. Being twins, they had a bit of a hard adjustment into the world, with sleeping and feeding challenges, as well as just being small and needing a little extra care. Cyndi stepped in and brought a sense of calm that we had been longing for. She had so much knowledge about their unique needs and how best to help them thrive. Her patience is unmatched! There were many nights that they both required non-stop love, snuggles, and bottles and I never once had to worry. She always made us feel comfortable and at ease. Our babies absolutely thrived under her care! We love our Cyndi and can’t recommend her enough.

Cyndi was our doula for the birth of our twin girls in June of 2025. I had interviewed about 5 doulas before choosing to go with Cyndi. I was specifically looking for a doula who had experience with twins as well as experience with NICU babies and Cyndi met those qualifications. Bonus points that I very much got along with her and I loved her calm temperament and loving personality. I had complications during my pregnancy where one of my twins was growth restricted and was going to be born very tiny, so having NICU time was a great potential for us. Due to the complications of my twin B being much larger and the risks of attempting a vaginal birth, I opted for a scheduled C section and Cyndi was very supportive of my decision. She never tried to change my mind, she only tried to make sure I had informed consent. This also extended to all decisions for the babies once they were born - I had full trust in Cyndi that she knew what I wanted for my birth plan and for my babies. I was very nervous about everything as my scheduled C section was approaching. Cyndi was there for me 24/7 for reassurance and she would continue to ask for updates after my appointments.

During the C section, Cyndi took the most incredible photos that I cherish and look back on constantly. Without her photos I would have little to no recollection of the moment. When the babies came out and everyone in the room was focused on them, Cyndi was mainly focused on me and making sure I was doing ok during & after my surgery. Luckily the babies did not need NICU time, but having her NICU knowledge & experience was absolutely imperative for my peace of mind. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to utilize Cyndi as our doula.
